Ways to Stay Safe with Gases in a Domestic Setting

The home is full of some fantastic gadgets, such as televisions and laptops, but there are also some appliances within the home that need to be maintained properly to ensure the safety of everyone inside.

At Adams Gas, we understand how much of a priority it is to ensure the safety of your family, friends, and the home itself, which is why we have suggested some great ways to stay safe when using gases in your home.

Check the Bottle Caps Before You Use Them

When you buy any type of gas bottle, whether it is one to be used in the kitchen or for recreational purpose, always ensure that the gas bottle cap is secure. If the cap or seal is damaged in any way, then you should not purchase the gas bottle.

The reason for this is because if the seal is damaged, then gas could potentially leak from the bottle, which would be bad for when you are taking it home with you and especially when you use it at home. If you are storing it, then the gas could potentially fill the room and could result in a suffocating environment.

Keeping Safe in the Kitchen

If you are using LPG for cooking purposes, then there are some safety tips that you need to follow to ensure the safety of your family and friends.

The first thing is to make sure that the kitchen is fully ventilated, either with a fan or opening your kitchen windows whilst cooking. Another thing is to ensure that there are no flammable or plastic objects near the cooking area.

When cooking with an LPG bottle, always keep an eye on the cooking pot or pan, because if some food or water overflows, it will extinguish the burner, which could lead to an unnoticed gas leak.

Maintain Your Gas Bottles

When keeping gas bottles in your home, maintaining and checking your bottles regularly is incredibly important. Some of the things that you can do to ensure that the gas bottles have no leaks present include applying a soapy solution to the bottle joints; this can give you an indication to see if there are any gas leaks present.

Other things include storing them upright, away from flammable objects and general heat sources, and NEVER store your gas bottles below ground, as you would not be able to tell if there is a gas leak and, if there is a gas leak, the surrounding area could result in suffocation if you try to fix the issue there and then.

At Adams Gas, we rigorously check our products to ensure that, when you purchase them, they are as safe as possible to use, whether for cooking or past time purposes.
