Why Adams Gas

Benefits & features

Disposable & refillable choice

Grab a single-use canister for a one-off party, or step up to a refillable cylinder for weddings, events and trade balloon work.

Collection & local delivery

Collect from our Kent base and stockist network, or order helium online for local delivery — inflate where the party is.

Better value per balloon

A refillable cylinder works out cheaper per balloon than repeat single-use canisters once you run more than the odd party.

Every kind of balloon

Helium for latex, foil and displays

Whether it is a birthday, a wedding, a shop display or trade balloon work, Adams Gas has helium to suit. Single-use canisters are perfect for a one-off party; rent-free refillable cylinders are the economical choice for weddings, regular events and balloon businesses.

Balloon counts

How many balloons will a tank fill?

It comes down to balloon size — bigger balloons use far more gas:

  • Standard 9-inch latex — the most per tank; a disposable canister does around 30.
  • 11-inch latex — fewer, as each holds more helium.
  • Foil balloons — far fewer; foils are much more gas-hungry than latex.

For bigger counts a refillable cylinder fills many more balloons than a disposable canister — see our helium tank sizes guide.

Latex or foil?

Choosing balloons that float well

Both latex and foil balloons float beautifully on helium — just check the balloon is helium-rated and sized for the look you want. Latex gives the classic party finish and floats for hours; foil balloons hold helium far longer, often for days, which makes them ideal for displays that need to last.

Larger balloons need proportionally more gas, so factor balloon size into how much helium you buy.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Does helium make all balloons float?

Helium-rated latex and foil balloons float well. Larger balloons need proportionally more gas, so check the balloon is sized for helium before you inflate.

Latex or foil for a party?

Latex gives the classic party look and floats for hours; foil holds helium for days, so it is better for displays that need to last. Many events use both.

How much helium do I need?

It depends on how many balloons and their size. A disposable canister covers around 30 standard 9-inch latex balloons; a refillable cylinder covers many more. See our helium tank sizes guide.
