How the CO₂ cylinder exchange works
1. Order & pay online
Choose the CO₂ cylinder that matches your sparkling water system and check out as normal.
2. Drop off your empties
DPD emails you a label and QR code. Box up to 6 cylinders (under 20 kg; longest side plus second-longest side within 120 cm) and drop the parcel at any DPD point, Post Office, Sainsbury’s or Co-op.
3. We refill & return
DPD normally has your empties with us the next day, and we refill and dispatch the same day they land. Drop off Monday and your full cylinders are typically back on Wednesday. The £15 + VAT service covers both journeys.
Don’t forget your empties. We can’t complete your order or send your refilled cylinders until your empty cylinders arrive with us.

Adams Gas runs a UK-wide exchange service for 425g food-grade CO₂ cylinders. Order online, post us your empty cylinder, and we send back a professionally refilled replacement suitable for Quooker, SodaStream, Grohe Blue and other sparkling water systems.
How does the CO₂ cylinder exchange work?
Order and pay online and choose DPD Drop-off & Return at checkout (£15 + VAT per parcel of up to 6 cylinders). DPD emails you a return label and QR code; box up your empties and drop the parcel at any DPD point, Post Office, Sainsbury's or Co-op. We refill them with food-grade CO₂ and ship them straight back — the fee covers both journeys.
How much does it cost, and is it cheaper than branded refills?
Refills start from £5.00. A compatible refill service is usually far more economical than buying branded one-off cylinders, giving you a lower cost per litre of sparkling water with the same performance.

How long does the CO₂ refill exchange take?
Most exchanges turn around in about two days. Once you drop your parcel at a DPD point, your empties normally reach us the next day, and we usually refill and dispatch your full cylinders the same day they arrive. Drop off on a Monday and your refills are typically delivered on the Wednesday.
How long does a 425g CO₂ cylinder last?
A 425g cylinder typically carbonates up to 60 litres of water. How long that lasts depends on your household’s usage and how fizzy you like your drinks.
Is the CO₂ food-grade and safe to use?
Yes. We fill every cylinder with certified food-grade carbon dioxide — the same gas used to carbonate sparkling water, soft drinks and beer. Used with a compatible appliance and the manufacturer’s instructions, it is safe for home and commercial use.
How do I know when my CO₂ cylinder is empty?
You will notice weaker carbonation, less fizz, or the system no longer producing sparkling water. Fitting a refilled cylinder restores normal operation — many customers keep a spare so they never run out.
How should I store a spare CO₂ cylinder?
Store cylinders upright in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight, heat sources and temperatures above 50°C.
