Why Adams Gas

Welding gas, rent-free

Rent-free cylinders

No monthly hire and no contract, unlike the big-brand rental model. Pay for the gas plus a one-off refundable deposit only.

Full MIG/TIG/mix range

Pure argon for TIG and aluminium, argon/CO2 mix for MIG on mild steel, and pure CO2 as the budget option — all in stock.

Hobby to trade sizes

From small portable bottles for the home garage up to full trade cylinders that cut down changeovers in a busy workshop.

Fast cylinder exchange

Swap an empty for a full cylinder of the same gas and size in minutes — no waiting on a slow on-site refill.

Which gas?

Which welding gas for which job

MIG on mild steel typically uses an argon/CO2 mix for a clean, low-spatter arc; pure CO2 is the cheaper alternative with deeper penetration and more spatter. TIG and aluminium welding need pure argon. Not sure? Our guides break it down by job, or our team will match a cylinder to your work.

Pick the right gas

Which welding gas for which job

MIG on mild steel: an argon/CO2 mix is the workshop standard — argon stabilises the arc while a little CO2 adds penetration, giving clean welds with low spatter. Pure CO2 welds the same steel for less but spatters more.

TIG and aluminium: use pure argon. TIG needs a fully inert shield, and aluminium MIG runs on pure argon too — any CO2 in the mix would contaminate the weld.

Frequently asked questions

Do you do rent-free welding gas?

Yes — every Adams Gas welding cylinder is rent-free, unlike the big-brand rental model. You pay for the gas plus a one-off refundable deposit, with no annual hire charge and no contract.

What sizes are available?

From small hobby and portable cylinders for the home garage up to full trade sizes for busy workshops. Larger cylinders mean fewer changeovers.

Which gas do I need for MIG?

An argon/CO2 mix is the standard for MIG on mild steel. Pure CO2 is a cheaper option with more spatter. For aluminium MIG, use pure argon.
